Rijhu Jhunjhunwala Gets Honoured with Bhartiya Manav Puruskar for His Exemplary Contribution to Society

The Indian Institute of Planning and Management (IIPM) has awarded the Bharatiya Manavata Vikas Puraskar to the Jawahar Foundation for taking its commitment to bringing about change in society one step further.

Through inclusive growth and development initiatives, the Jawahar Foundation is dedicated to the well-being of communities in Rajasthan. The programs are designed to impact the community in all areas that impact humanity and focus on those that generate positive change and improvement in society.

To eradicate hunger in Rajasthan, the Jawahar Foundation has launched a community kitchen called Swabhiman Bhoj, serving clean and nutritious meals to everyone for Rs 1. The foundation currently operates in Ajmer, Banswara, Bhilwara and Jaipur and has served over 350,000 meals in just one year. With a daily attendance of approximately 1,600 beneficiaries through the centers, the foundation plans to open 10 more Swabhiman Bhoj centers by the end of next year.

The foundation is dedicated to caring for everyone's health. During the pandemic, the foundation supported local medical authorities in Ajmer and Bhilwara to rapidly set up multi-bed Covid treatment rooms and install oxygen distribution lines in major hospitals. It also supplied the local health centers in Pushkar and Gulabpura with oxygen generators of 45 Lpm each. Rajasthan has one of the lowest literacy rates in the country at 67.1% and the lowest female literacy rate at 52%.

The Jawahar Foundation aims to bridge the educational gap by focusing on transforming the educational landscape through a digital literacy program called "Swabhiman Shiksha" through which approximately 8,000+ students have benefited. The program resulted in a 23% increase in public school attendance. Apart from these various initiatives in the areas of food safety, education and healthcare, the Jawahar Foundation is focused on providing safe and hygienic drinking water to the people of Rajasthan and will continue to work for the good of the society.
